Endometriosis: The Silent Struggle too Many Women Carry

🌿 What Is Endometriosis — And Why Aren’t We Talking About It Enough?

Endometriosis is one of the most common yet misunderstood conditions affecting women’s health.

It occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it—on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other areas in the pelvis. This can lead to inflammation, scarring, and intense pain that goes far beyond what many have been told is “normal.”

And yet… so many women suffer in silence.

Globally, endometriosis affects about 1 in 10 women of reproductive age—that’s nearly 190 million women worldwide.

💔 “It’s Just Period Pain”… Or Is It?

Many of us were taught that painful periods are simply part of being a woman.

But endometriosis pain is different.

It can look like:

  • Severe menstrual cramps that disrupt daily life

  • Chronic pelvic or lower back pain

  • Pain during sex

  • Digestive issues or “endo belly”

  • Fatigue that lingers beyond your cycle

For some women, the pain is so intense it impacts work, relationships, and mental health.

⏳ Why It Takes Years to Be Diagnosed

One of the most heartbreaking realities?

It can take years to get diagnosed.

On average, women wait 6–10 years from the onset of symptoms to a confirmed diagnosis.

Why?

  • Symptoms are normalized or dismissed

  • Lack of awareness (even among providers)

  • Limited access to specialists

  • Structural disparities in healthcare

For Black women especially, this delay can be even longer due to systemic bias and underrepresentation in research.

🌺 listen to your body

At Empower Mind Soul, we know this isn’t just physical.

Endometriosis impacts:

  • How you show up in your body

  • Your relationship with rest

  • Your fertility journey

  • Your sense of being heard

And in many communities, conversations about menstrual health are still whispered—if they happen at all.

But our bodies are not meant to be endured.
They are meant to be understood.

🌿 What Support Can Look Like

There is no single “cure,” but there are ways to support your body:

Medical options

  • Hormonal therapies

  • Pain management

  • Surgical interventions

Holistic + supportive approaches

  • Anti-inflammatory nutrition

  • Stress regulation

  • Cycle awareness

  • Community + shared stories

✨ A New Narrative

We believe:

  • Pain should be investigated, not normalized

  • Women deserve to be believed

  • Healing starts with awareness

Endometriosis is not rare.
It’s just underheard.

And we’re changing that.

If you’ve ever felt like your pain was dismissed, you are not alone.

✨ Track your symptoms
✨ Listen to your body
✨ Advocate for your care

And most importantly—know that your experience is valid.

🌿 “Resources & Support”

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

If you’re looking for support, education, or simply a community that understands your experience, these organizations are doing powerful work—especially for women of color who have historically been overlooked in endometriosis care.

These spaces exist to remind you:
✨ your pain is valid
✨ your voice matters
✨ and you deserve to be supported and believed
